MESSAGE FROM OUR CHAIR

Dear all,

Welcome to the Holdsworth Club, the Official Law Society at the University of Birmingham! We are one of the oldest law societies as we were established in 1927. The Holdsworth Club has always been a pillar to all law students since its founding and we are proud to finally accept all degrees since 2019. We are comprised of over 1000 members, including current students and alumni.

We have always been honoured to have renowned judges and jurists as our Presidents such as Lord Denning, Lord Wilberforce, Lady Hale, Lord Radcliffe and more. These esteemed Presidents are welcomed to provide an address to our members in which many concepts such as the legal neighbours by Lord Atkin in the case of Donoghue v Stevenson was established. The Right Honourable Beverley McLachlin was our President for the 2021-22 academic year promoting the international outreach of the club. We are excited to announce our new president for the 2024-25 academic year soon!

Our goal is to offer our members exceptional career opportunities, support from academics to welfare, and create a strong sense of community. We have incresed interaction between peers and colleagues through social and career foccused events. Last year we expanded our sports department and continue to provide new and exciting for members in all aspects of Club life. It is with great honour that I am leading this year’s committee. We have an abundance of plans to enrich the career prospects and social calendars of our members.

Yours sincerely,
